Permits
Permit applications are moving to an online permitting system effective June 1, 2022. Starting on this date, the offices will no longer accept paper permits. All applications will need to be submitted online via the RTVision website. Permits that require a fee must be emailed, mailed or delivered with payment.
Permits are valid for roads and bridges under the jurisdiction of Mille Lacs County.
- Contact the Minnesota Department of Transportation for permits on a state or federal route within Minnesota.
- Contact individual townships or cities for permits on local streets.
- All applications will need to be submitted online via the RTVision website.
- Please email questions or supporting documents to Public Works.
- Payment is required before a permit can be processed. Fees are indicated on each permit. View the County’s Fee Schedule (PDF). Please follow instruction for submittal of payment for credit card / electronic check as indicated for each permit.
- Currently, only the following can be paid by this method:
- Driveway Entrance Permit
- Moving Permits (must submit at least 3 days prior)
- Mailbox Support Application
- Specific Service Sign Applications

Payments can be accepted online for the following permits:
- Change Use of Existing Driveway Permit
- Culvert Payment
- Extend Existing Driveway Permit
- House Moving Permits
- Mailbox
- New Driveway Permit
- Over Dimension Permits
- Over Weight Permits
- Specific Service Sign Applications (2020 Fee: $465 per installation)
Paying with Debit / Credit Card
To pay with a debit or credit card there is a service fee of 2.35% of the payment amount, with a minimum fee of $1.50. To pay using an e-check there is a service fee of $1.50. The service fee is charged by the County’s payment processor. Mille Lacs County does not receive any portion of this fee.

Homeowners are required to call 811 before digging.
